Though this week was boring as usual, it was refreshing to have a tiny break from Jason. He hasn't missed an episode in I don't know how long. In fact, the episode count for the entire year he has been in
148/171 episodes. That's absurd. No character, no matter how popular, should be on that much. And it's not even that, its the fact that Jason takes up a good half hour of the show, five days a week. Where someone like Elizabeth for example, get's 3 minutes of screentime twice a week. Obviously that's not completly accurate, but you get the point.
I really do detest this character and everything he stands for. I hate how he's always saving the day. I mean c'mon...couldn't he just once need saving? Or not be right about something? How about next time Sam and Elizabeth get kidnapped, he DOESN'T know where the kidnapper is taking them?! *coughTMKcough*
I also hate that everytime he breaks up with one of his women (whom fall completly in love with him...though I'll never know why), he comes out smelling like roses where the woman always 'betrayed' him. And it's not just his romantic relationships. Look at the Sonny situation. Jason was the victim, Sonny is the bigbad villain. Have we ever heard of the time Jason betrayed someone? Nope. (if we have, please enlighten me...I cannot remember) Well, at least not in a way in such Jason comes out looking like the badguy. If Sam or Monica whine about how Jason did this and that, they are set up to look like evil hypocrites. Ugh.
Look at the way JaSam ended. The character of Sam was destroyed (not that I still didn't love her or anything lol), where Jason was set up on a pedestal haha. Sam went down the self-destructive path, doing totally OOC things that we won't mention here and now lol. However, my girl Liz was forced to do some serious Jason propping, always going on and on how selfless and herioc Jason is, considering he gave up his child.
Which starts a whole other issue. The fact that majority of the town sees him as this selfless martyr who is not responsible for getting into the mob in the first place (cause its all Sonny's fault don't ya know?). When someone like Lucky sees Jason as a badguy, everyone sees Lucky as the ignorant idiot. Jason is a KILLER, a KILLER. You are not a hero and a KILLER at the same time. If they want to make him an anti-hero, go right on ahead. But the problem is, they're writing an antihero all wrong. Jason Morgan used to be a great example of one...now he's just the hero. Antiheros aren't always selfless, heroic, and whatnot. They aren't always right. A better example of an antihero would be Luke or even someone like Sam. NOT Jason, at least not anymore.
And does anyone realize he has no storyline of his own? He just keeps popping up in everyone elses?
I think I'll stop...ugh sorry....just really needed to get that off my chest after watching some recent clips on Youtube.
