NOTE: Story begins in Summer of 2007... In this story...Molly was born in September of 2005...making the train wreck also in September. I made a few other changes to fit with what I am doing in this story...other than that most of what we saw on telly happened.

CHAPTER 1

Sonny Corinthos sits at his usual corner table sipping on an iced coffee as he reads over the latest report of his growing coffeehouse business. His concentration is broken when he hears her come in.

“OW! Dammit!” Alexis Davis hisses under her breath when she smacks her elbow against the corner of a nearby table as she reaches down to the floor for one of her packages.

Sonny gives a devilish smirk at the sight of Alexis rubbing her elbow and struggling with packages and Molly’s stroller. He casually strolls over to give assistance. He sees that pained expression on her face as she bites down on her bottom lip to keep from crying out in pain.

“Alexis. Hey are---”

“I’m all right.” Alexis cuts him off, waving him back to his seat. She again reaches down to grab her package but now her purse begins to slip off her shoulder.

“Let me give you a hand with that.” He says stooping down to grab the Wyndam’s bag. He notices that she still has an uncomfortable look about her.

Alexis notices that he’s staring. “Hey, don’t let me take you away from what you were doing over there. You looked pretty busy when I came in here.”

“Oh that’s done. Are you sure you’re all right?”

“Yes, Sonny. I’m fine.” She gently rubs her elbow again. “However, my elbow is in shock.”

“Well come on over here and sit down for a second.” Sonny grabs the rest of Alexis’ bags and leads her to his table. He sits the packages in an empty chair then pulls out a chair for her. “Would you like some peppermint tea or something?”

“No. No tea.” Alexis waves her hands in protest. “I’m SOOO SO tired of tea. Besides it’s so hot outside. How about something cold instead? Hmmm, like a strawberry smoothie. Yeah that’ll be nice and cool and refreshing.” Alexis smiles just thinking about it, her dimples popping out slightly in the process as she reaches into the stroller and pulls out a bright-eyed and smiling Molly and holds her in her lap.

“Oh you are definitely feeling better.” Sonny returns the smile dimples for dimples as he waves down a waitress. After ordering Alexis’ smoothie and another iced coffee for himself, he says, “Well now, what brings you in these parts? Just out kicking it with Miss Molly today?”

“Yes. While Kristina’s at day camp, the two of us decided to have ‘Mommy and Molly’ time. So we went to the zoo and then shopping because both Molly and Kristina are growing like little weeds.” Alexis stands Molly up on her lap and Molly lifts her feet up so her mother can swing her. Molly sees Sonny and grins letting out a playful high-pitched squeal.

“That she is.” Sonny says as he grins back at Molly and pokes her round belly, bringing about more “Happy Molly Squeals”.

The waitress brings their drinks and smiles at Molly as she knowingly brought a kiddie cup filled with a small amount of smoothie just for her.

“Mama, shake!” Molly reaches for the cup almost tipping it over.

“Whoa! Careful, baby.” Alexis saves the cup and places it closer to Molly. “Let’s not spill it all over us.” Molly eagerly sticks the straw in her mouth and begins to suck the smoothie down. Alexis laughs at Molly’s enthusiasm over her drink.

Sonny was happy to see Alexis smiling because she so needed it. Her eyes never looked brighter than when she genuinely smiled. He missed seeing that and especially her dimples.

The past year or so had not been kind to Alexis. She almost died giving birth to Molly in the rather dire situation of being involved in a train wreck. Dr. Robin Scorpio had to deliver Molly via C-Section, with only a switchblade for cutting and a bottle of Vodka for anesthesia and sterilization. A few months later, she along with pretty much the rest of Port Charles was stricken with a serious bout of encephalitis. After being forced to represent the murderous Manny Ruiz, Alexis was appointed as the DA for Port Charles.

If her new job didn’t cause enough issues and complications, then finding out Samantha McCall was the daughter she was forced to give up at 16 surely did. Sam hated Alexis and frankly, Alexis wasn’t too fond of Sam. These two being mother and daughter definitely was a shock. Their relationship took an even worse turn back in August when Alexis spotted Sam having sex with Alexis’ scumbag of a husband, and Sonny’s brother, Ric Lansing. And to add salt to the wound, Alexis saw them engaged in this sick act after learning that she had lung cancer.

For the sake of her young daughters, Alexis tried to pretend that she knew nothing of Ric and Sam’s encounter. She chose to notify everyone about her condition and set about correcting her health, first through surgery, then through chemotherapy treatments. But shortly before Halloween, after having several flashback moments and during a much heated argument with Ric, the bottom finally fell out. Alexis not only handed Ric his ass on a platter over it all, she also handed him his walking papers as well. And throughout that entire unpleasant situation who was right there to comfort and support Alexis? Why none other than Sonny Corinthos of course.

Sonny sips on his iced coffee as he takes in the sight of Alexis and her baby girl. No, scratch that. Alexis and their baby girl. He would have to get used to that. Alexis was probably still in shock over Molly’s true paternity. Sonny however had actually begun to have his suspicions shortly before the hostage situation at the MetroCourt.

There were just so many things about Molly that reminded him of Kristina when she was younger. There was no doubt that Kristina was his daughter. The older she gets, the more she looks like Sonny. Molly was beginning to do the same thing. At first she was definitely Alexis’ kid. But in more recent months, her features have changed. Her complexion has darkened some, and even her hair texture is changing. No longer poker straight, it hangs in soft, dark curls that today Alexis has put into two pigtails with lavender bows to match her sundress. While Sonny’s brother, and Alexis’ scumbag husband, Ric Lansing did have slight Latino features, he was much fairer in complexion than Sonny and his hair was wavy but not curly like Sonny’s. And while Sonny could have easily chalked everything up to genetics, given that his mother, Adela, was olive-toned with wavy hair, he couldn’t. Something inside him hinted that Molly was his child. It was the same gut feeling he had three years ago, before Alexis was forced to tell him the Kristina was his child. He would be damned if he’d let another child grow up right in front of him and not be able to take part in those precious moments he missed with Kristina.

With the help of Stan, Sonny hacked into General Hospital’s computer system and took a look at Alexis, Ric, and Molly’s medical records. What he discovered proved without a doubt that Ric was not Molly’s father. His blood type was AB-, Molly’s was O+. Both Sonny and Alexis had A+ blood type. BINGO!!! This information was found out right on time seeing as Alexis was fighting against that bastard Ric for custody of Molly. Sonny was going to reveal said information to Alexis the night he became a hostage at the MetroCourt.

All while sitting in that lobby, praying and plotting a way to get out alive, Sonny also wondered how it could happen again. With all the bad blood that had gone on between him and Alexis at the time, it’s amazing that they got together in the conjugal sense again at all. Let alone produced another child. And then he thought, ‘But when you’re hurting, feelings come out that would normally stay hidden.’ And he remembered how that was exactly what happened three Decembers ago between him and Alexis.

CHAPTER 2

He found out in the worst way that Kristina was his child; during a medical crisis. Kristina was critically ill and near death. The only possible chance of her surviving was for a possible blood marrow donor to match her. Everyone had been tested. Everyone except for Sonny and Morgan. Alexis had lied long enough. To continue with the lie could cost her the most precious thing in her life; Kristina. Almost automatically, she called out to Sonny and in a tearful plea for him to understand, she explained that Kristina was their daughter.

Sonny never knew such rage. In that instant he could have strangled Alexis for holding back something so important to him. Of all people, Alexis knew just how much having a child of his own meant to him. And she’d kept his own daughter, his first born child, away from him for two years. Because of her lie, he’d missed out on all the firsts that babies experience; first smile, saying dada and mama, teething, crawling, walking. All of that was over and done with and he missed it. Sonny missed all of these milestones in his daughter’s life all because Alexis was ashamed of him, and what they had together.

To add insult to injury, this revelation happened just hours before the next hurt would occur. Sonny’s unborn child that Sam was carrying was born a couple of weeks early and died due to an unfortunate complication that coincidentally took place during a heated discussion between Alexis and Sam. As Alexis begged and pleaded for Sam to help Kristina by donating the baby’s stem cells, Sam began to experience unbearable pain and was rushed into surgery to save her life and her baby’s. And when the baby died, Alexis was blamed, even though the doctors reiterated the fact that what happened was no one’s fault. It happened spontaneously and would have happened in any case. And even though Sonny knew what the doctors said was true, he still couldn’t help but blame Alexis, if only to at least make her feel worse than she already did.

But in spite of the fact that he was grieving for his unborn daughter, Lila, Sonny found it in his heart to save the life of a daughter he didn’t really know and had not been allowed to know. He gave permission for Baby Lila’s stem cells to be used to save Kristina. Then he prayed that what he gave authorization for worked because Kristina was clearly dying. Had he not signed the release forms, she would have surely died. And as much as he was angry at Alexis for keeping his daughter from him, he could not punish her by letting their baby die.

Sonny wanted to hate Alexis for what she’d done. But no matter how enraged he was, he couldn’t hate her. And when they watched the doctors wheel that sweet child off to her lifesaving surgery, they both embraced each other in the most natural and real way; with everything they had. No, Sonny couldn’t hate her, but he was just so undone over it all.

After Kristina made it through the surgery and began to improve, there began the task of seeking custody. Sonny knew it would not be easy. Alexis had been adamant in the hospital. She didn’t want Sonny or any of the baggage that came with him anywhere near Kristina.

“It would be best if you had little to no contact with Kristina.” Alexis pleaded with him.

“Best for who, Alexis? Kristina? Or You?” Sonny retorted back. And then he gets a revelation. “I get it. This, this is all because I chose Carly over you! You can’t stand the fact that I dumped you so you kept my daughter away from me, and you don’t want me to see her even now.”

The situation grew more intense when Alexis agreed to marry Ric in a quickie ceremony in the hospital chapel. No sooner had the I Dos been said, Ric slapped Sonny with a court order barring him from spending time with Kristina. Although Alexis had not agreed to such a tactic, the damage had been done. Sonny was being pushed and it was time to push back.

Chapter 3

The last thing he’d expected was for her to show up on his doorstep. Not after they’d gone another round at the hospital. Not after he turned and walked away before he said yet another thing to make matters worse. But there she was damp from the rain that had just begun a few minutes ago, standing at his door step, looking at him with those eyes.

“I, I don’t want to argue anymore today, Alexis.” He said as he looked down away from those eyes.

“I came here to,” He stopped her before she could finish the sentence.

“There’s nothin’ you can tell me that I don’t already know.” Sonny’s words cut through her like a hot knife through cold butter.

“Sonny! Please?!” She stepped through the threshold, even though he didn’t ask her to. Yet, he didn’t stop her either. He closed the door as she turned to face him again. “Please listen to me.”

“Why should I? So you can tell me yet another lie?” Sonny poured himself what Alexis was sure was another drink. “Don’t you think I’ve heard enough of those to last me a lifetime?” He sipped on the scotch as if he were out in the desert and had just been offered a glass of cold water.

Alexis had seen him like this many times before, but never had she been the reason for him behaving in this manner. She looked away briefly in shame, sucked in her breath, exhaled, and then proceeded to explain. “First, I had absolutely no idea that Ric was going to do what he did. And I told him that it was out of the question. You can see Kristina while she’s in the hospital.”

“Yeah? Well what about once she’s all better? Then will you again tell me it’s for the best if I stay away?”

“That brings me to my second point. I never kept Kristina away as a form of punishment for you choosing Carly over me. I agonized over that decision. And the bottom line still remains today. Sonny, you live a dangerous life. You don’t know when or if your enemies will come after her for revenge. You—”

“You’re right, I don’t know. And neither do you. But it still doesn’t give you the right to keep her away from me, Alexis! She’s my daughter! I have a right to be her father!” He slams back the rest of his drink. “You knew how much having a family meant to me. And yet you still told everyone that Ned was the father. You took away precious years that I can never get back all because of your neurotic fears of my lifestyle and profession.”

“I wasn’t being neurotic! I was, am being a mother! I want her safe!”

“And you don’t think I won’t keep her safe? Look at Michael and Morgan. They’re safe. Nothing’s happened to them and they’re around me all the time, Alexis.”

“They’re safe for now. But what if?”

“What if? What if what? See you always deal in the what if. How about dealing with what is, Alexis? How about the fact that I am a good father? And I can be one to Kristina if you’ll just let me.”

“I don’t want her around all of this.” Alexis spreads her arms out in reference to Sonny’s environment. “Look at it around here. Guards are everywhere all the time. Threats of bombs and guns are all over the place. What kind of life is that for a child, Sonny?”

“What does it matter if the child’s life is filled with the love of two parents? All a child needs in this world is a mother and a father who loves them unconditionally. That’s something that you and I didn’t have growing up. But we can give it to our child, Alexis. It doesn’t matter what we do for a living. All we have to do is—” He looked Alexis directly in those eyes and he saw it. He saw the fear that she’s been harboring and it dawned on him what that fear was. “But it’s not just my profession that scares you.”

Alexis couldn’t hide it from him no matter how hard she tried. He could still read her. She turned away from him, hugging herself to keep away the chill she was feeling. Sonny continued to drive in his point.

“You don’t want me around our daughter cuz you’re ashamed, of me.”

“No.” Alexis shakes her head in denial.

“Yes you are! You’re ashamed of me, of us. Of what happened between us.”

Alexis begins to shake a little more as the tears well up in her eyes. Sonny knows he’s hit a nerve.

“It still tears you up that you allowed yourself, for once, to let go and lead with your heart. And then that you acted free enough to even love me. And then, that you got pregnant with our child.”

“No. I’m not, I’ve nev—” Alexis couldn’t keep going. The words were stuck in her throat. She gasped for air. “I’ve never been ashamed of her!” She forced out with a gasp as the tears began to fall helplessly down her cheeks.

“Oh no? Just me then, huh? You’re ashamed you let yourself be that loose with me? Well take a good look, honey cuz Kristina is half of me. When you look at her you see half of me. So if you’re ashamed of me and half of her is me, then—”

Before Sonny could finish, Alexis had run out of the door. But Sonny was not through. He wanted her to realize the damage she was doing to Kristina and to each other. He took off after her catching up to her just as she reached where the walkway meets the driveway. It was freezing outside. The weather had changed drastically in the time that Alexis had been there. The rain had become cold and icy sleet and was coming down hard and fast. Sonny had on no coat, and Alexis was shivering inside of hers not only from the cold but from fear and anger as well.

“Alexis!” Sonny called out as he reached for her arm and spun her around to face him.

“Let go of me!” Alexis hissed as she snatched her arm away from him and reached inside her purse for her car keys. She was shaking even more now, but more so because of her rising anger. She trembled so badly that she dropped her keys. “Dammit!” She screamed out as she stooped some to look for them. The sleet was coming down so fast that it was making it difficult to see. She felt Sonny grab her by the arm and tug her back into the house. “What are you doing, let me go!”

“C’mon back inside. It’s getting—” Sonny is stunned to silence by the strong, forceful blow to his left cheek. “What the hell did you do that for?!”

“Don’t you ever grab me like that again!” Alexis was huffing and heaving with anger.

“Alexis, do you hate me that much that you’d risk killing yourself in an ice storm to get away from me? Do you hate me, that much, that you kept my baby away from me?”

“I, I don’t hate you. You just shouldn’t have grabbed me like that. You know I don’t--”

“Oh stop it! Enough with all the lies and cover ups!” Sonny was through listening to her excuses. They’d caused enough hurt. “Admit it, Alexis! All of the lies, all the anger, the revenge tactics you and my brother have been engaged in, really were all to get back at me for going back to Carly! You hated me then and you hate me now because I chose her over you!”

“YES!!! YES!!! YES!!! YES!!! YES!!!” Alexis cried out in the anger that finally surfaced all the way to the top. “You got me! You know me so well! I admit it!” All of a sudden she stands more erect and with confidence as she finally gives Sonny both barrels and relinquishes all that has pained her ever since that fateful day in May of 2002. She wipes away the tears that fell.

“I hated you for what you did to me! I hated you and everything about you! I hated that I allowed myself to befriend you, to represent you in anyway possible! I hated that I fell in love with you! I hated that I fell so deep in love with you to the point that I lost all sense of what was right! I hate that we became more than just friends. And I let you convince me that being more than friends was what we needed to be. I hate that you told me that what we did was right and how it was supposed to be! I hate that you told me I mattered to you because I know that what you were really saying was that you loved me!” She began to choke up again. “And most of all, I hate that within a few days time, what we had become was turned into something that you were ashamed of the minute you found out that Carly had been in the penthouse that night we were together.”

Sonny’s jaw dropped a bit at her last statement.

“Yeah, I thought so.” Alexis said as she turned away. “What I hate most of all is that I believed that even if Carly were alive and well, which as we know she turned up just fine, I believe that you’d stay with me anyways. I hate I fell for you that much.”

The expression on her face read loud enough for Sonny to also stand more erect and take notice that the person in front of him was not the Alexis who’d come to his home a few minutes earlier, it was in fact the Alexis he knew back then before her spirits were crushed by too many unforeseen situations. And in that moment, looking at the woman who stood before him pouring out everything within her like she did before they crossed the line, he knew that she was still the one who could melt his heart like no other could. Did he still melt hers?

“And do you hate what we did that night too?” He asked as he stepped closer to her.

“If you mean do I hate that we had sex?” Alexis wanted to make sure that she clarified her feelings to him on how he made her feel then. “No, I don’t hate it, nor do I regret it, nor am I ashamed as you seem to think. What we did that night gave me the best gift I could ever receive, Kristina. She is the only reason that I will never be ashamed of what happened between us that night.” Clearly the fight in Alexis had returned.

“Oh? The only reason, huh?” Before she could respond, Sonny inched yet even closer. Alexis took one step backwards.

“I was never ashamed of us creating our daughter. I, I was never ashamed of us.”

“Neither was I.”

Thanks for the comments...

Maggie...I did begin to read your story but I've been WAAAY to busy to keep up right now...will have to read it when my life slows down a bit*

CHAPTER 4

Sonny ushers her back inside. Alexis steps back through the threshold and Sonny reaches to help her with her coat. “Let me put that somewhere so it can dry.” He laid the coat on a chair by the fireplace. Turning back he sees Alexis is beginning to shiver. “You know what; those wet clothes are no good. You’ll catch your death if you stay in them.”

“I’m all right.” Alexis lied. It was bad enough she was stuck with him and sincerely regretted deciding to apologize to him at that particular moment. But she wasn’t aware that a storm was coming. How would she ever explain this to Ric? She’d told him she was going to the hospital to see Kristina. It wasn’t a lie completely. She did spend most of the day at the hospital. But she thought she could slip away for a few minutes. But God decided differently. “My clothes aren’t that wet. They’ll be dry soon.”

“Alexis, c’mon now. There ain’t nothing worse than sittin’ around in soaking wet jeans and that sweater.” Sonny tries to hide the grin forming when he saw the state Alexis was in. Aside from her jeans almost dripping on his living room floor, the once soft lavender cashmere sweater she was wearing was now so wet it was clinging to her. He catches himself staring a bit too long and says, “I can, I mean I have something here you can change into.”

Alexis noticed him staring as well and attempts to pull the sweater away from her body some so that it doesn’t cling so much. “What? You just so happen to keep clothes here in case a lady gets wet and needs to change?”

“No. I mean you can wear something of mine until your clothes dry.”

“You know I could have been half way home by now?”

“Yeah, or you could have slid off the road into a ditch with all that ice out there and as mad as you were when you ran out of here.”

Alexis tosses Sonny the look of death and blows out some air as she begins to pace in front of the fireplace. Sonny reads her vibes and says, “You might as well make yourself comfy, Alexis. Cuz there’s no way you’re going anywhere in that weather right now. I don’t care how angry you are with me. I don’t care how angry I am at you. I cannot and will not let you go out there and get yourself killed trying to drive back home.”

“I like your nerve, telling me what to do. Did you forget I have a husband?”

“You’re fault.” Sonny retorts.

Alexis cuts him another death stare. “Did you forget we have a child still in the hospital recovering from major surgery?

“You don’t know how to use the phone and check on her? Look, you stand here trying to make up excuses for why you should go out in an ice storm. I’m going to go up and change out of these wet clothes and bring you down something dry to wear.” Sonny heads for the stairs. “Oh, just know that I told Max to hide your car keys. So even if you did try to leave, you’d only get as far as the driveway.” Sonny flashes a short dimpled grin before disappearing up the stairs.

Alexis can’t even react fast enough because Sonny bolted up the stairs too quickly. She clenched her teeth as she fought back the many colorful metaphors forming. She reaches in her purse for her cell phone to call Ric, then the hospital to check on Kristina. Unfortunately she had forgotten to charge it up and the battery was good and dead now. She decides to use Sonny’s phone, but it was also dead.

“Oh noooooo!” She whines as she hangs up the receiver and picks it up again thinking maybe it had not been put on the hook. Still dead. “Noooooo! This is not happening.”

“What?” Sonny says as he returns downstairs having changed into a dry pair of black pants and a charcoal gray shirt. He was holding an ice pack to the side of his mouth.

“Not only is my cell phone dead.” Alexis looks up and sees him with the ice pack. “But so is your house phone. I hit you that hard?”

“Uh, yeah, ya did. It was beginning to smart a little and it was getting red so I figured I’d begin trying to keep the swelling down. Did you just say the phone is dead?”

“Yes. And I really need to call and let Ric know what’s up.”

“Since you must, just use my cell phone.” Sonny pulls out his cell phone from his pants pocket. “Umm, there’s no signal. Must be because of the weather.”

“This is just great!” Alexis begins to pace again in disgust. “I knew I should have stayed my ass right there at the hospital. I should have never come here. I mean it figures I would come here and end up stuck, with you. It really can’t get any worse than this. Oh yes it can, there’s always another shoe waiting to drop. And I’m sure it’s gonna happen before the night is over. I just know it.”

“I see you still don’t know how to breathe.” Sonny says walking over to Alexis and holding out the clothes he brought down for her and a towel to dry off with. “Look, you really should get out of the wet clothes now. So take this, and the towel. There’s a bathroom down the hall that you can use.”

Alexis reluctantly takes the clothes and towel and heads for the bathroom. Sonny walks over to the bar and reaches for the scotch but stops, choosing instead to pour himself a glass of water. For some reason he felt he didn’t need the liquor to keep the edge off like he did earlier. He walks over to the fireplace and shifts the logs around a bit. He checks Alexis’ coat on the chair and adjusts it so that the entire coat will be affected by the heat from the fireplace. His eye catches the picture of his boys sitting on the mantle. And he sees the frame it was in that said, “Daddy’s Little Shippers”. He thought about how Kristina would have fit right in when they took that picture back on the Fourth of July. He began to see other pictures in his mind where Kristina should have been there and his anger and hurt began to return. How could Alexis, of all people, betray him like this? He turns away from the mantle and looks up to see Alexis standing in the doorway in one of his black button down shirts and a pair of black drawstring pants that were still too big, toweling her hair.

“Well you can rest assure your money is being well spent. Max wouldn’t give me my car keys. He wouldn’t even—” She sees the look in his eyes and loses track of what she was saying.

“You of all people, why did it have to be you who betrayed me like this?” Sonny says with sadness lurking in his tone.

Alexis sucks in her breath. ‘There it is. The other shoe.’ She thinks to herself. “Sonny, I wasn’t trying to intentionally ‘betray’ you. It was never about hurting you. I was thinking about Kristina. I was thinking about what was best for her. I wanted to keep her safe. How many times can I express this to you?”

“Alexis, there’ll never be enough explanations to be able to make me see what you saw at the moment that you made the choice to keep me from knowing that we had a baby on the way.”

Alexis tries to look anywhere but in Sonny’s eyes.

“There’s nothing you can say that will make me understand how you, someone I considered my best friend, how you could keep her away from me all this time.”

“How could I not keep her away?” Alexis walked more into the room, and began pacing back and forth past the coffee table. “Sonny, I went back and forth for weeks on whether or not to tell you. I did. And more than once I came so close to telling you. But then too many things kept happening to make me believe that you not knowing the truth was the best thing for us all, especially Kristina. And if I ever had a weak moment, all I had to do was remember the look in your eyes the moment you heard Carly had gone over that cliff, and even more so when she returned from the so called dead.”

“I was relieved that she was all right, but—”

“No buts.” Alexis keeps going. “No buts about it. Sonny, I saw the look you gave when she looked at me in the church, then at you. You immediately had remorse in your eyes. You say now that you weren’t ashamed of what happened. But you were.” She could no longer look at him. Instead choosing to look down, she says, “And I thought about your shame, and Carly and her ways in general and,” She feels a hot tear fall down her cheek and wipes it away. “I just couldn’t subject my baby to all that.”

Sonny walked over to Alexis, took his index finger and lifted her chin so their eyes could meet. “Let’s get this settled for once and for all. Not ever have I been ashamed of what happened between us, Alexis. I could never be ashamed of the best thing that ever happened to me. Alexis, you knew me better than anybody, including Carly. How could you not know that what we shared that night was not just a one time deal. It was not just two people needing each other for one night. I didn’t just have sex with you, Alexis. I made love to you. I gave myself to you with all that I was and all that I had. That night I became one with you. I know you felt it then. I felt it in my heart when we connected.” Sonny looked into those big beautiful brown eyes of hers. He gently brushed the tear that fell down her right cheek. “And I know right now, that you know exactly what I’m talking about because right now, you still feel that connection.”

Alexis tried to look away but Sonny wouldn’t let her. Instead he pulled her close to him and wrapped her in the most endearing hug he could give her. He continued. “And I still feel it too, Alexis.” He pulled her hand up to his heart. “I should have spoken up then, but I did what I thought you wanted. But in actuality, I’ve never stopped loving you.”

CHAPTER 4 Supplemental

Alexis rested her head on his shoulder and let out all the pain and hurt and reality into his shirt in the form of sobs and tears. Sonny again lifted her chin so their eyes could meet. He hated to see her cry. He always did. And knowing that over the past couple of years most of her tears were because of him didn’t make him feel any better. He again brushed away the tears that fell in streaks down her cheeks, and then stroked her hair. He always loved her hair, with its chestnut brown tint and light highlights streaking through. He took in the smell of her hair, heavy from the sleet, it smelled like gardenias. He smiled letting his dimples pop out some and lightly kissed her forehead.

Alexis looked up at him with those eyes again. She knew this was the moment when she should have broken loose from him and left. She knew she should have bolted right back outside when he first tugged her back in. But instead she leaned into him and pressed her lips to his and allowed what she’d held in for so long to return. With the most assuring passion, she deepened the kiss as she sought out his tongue. Sonny willingly obliged as he entwined his tongue with hers.

Alexis’ head began to swim as she was becoming drunk with emotion. ‘What am I doing? I hate him.” She thinks to herself. Trying to come to her senses, she pushes away and says, “We need to--”

Sonny still holds onto her, “We need to be honest with ourselves for once, Alexis.”

“I am being honest. We can’t do this. I can’t do this. It’s wrong, Sonny. We are wrong. We can’t be right because every time we become close something bad happens. And I think it’s a sign for us to take notice of because I’m tired of bad things happening and I really need a break from all the bad things that keep happening in my life and—”

Sonny leans in and continues their kiss. “You still need to stop analyzing everything and follow your heart. And breathe.” He kisses her some more and she responds without hesitation. But her mind and her heart were at war with one another.

“Oh God, what am I doing?’ She tried to make sense of it all in her mind. “Oh!” She moaned out loud as Sonny’s kisses became lethal. Her heart rationalized. ‘It’s happening again, and I want it to.’

Here's Chappie 7...Like I said Chappies 5 and 6 are too hot for the forum...but PM ME and I'll send them to you.

CHAPTER 7

The morning light peeked through the slit in the curtains, casting a honeyed glow on Alexis, highlighting her touseled hair. She slowly opened her eyes and stretched, smiling as her surroundings came onto focus. Turning over towards the other side of the bed and seeing it is empty she is instantly reminded of how much an early bird Sonny is. She glances at the alarm clock on the nightstand and sees that it is 9:07.

She slides out of the bed and walks to the window. Peeking through the same slot that allowed the sunlight to wake her, she sees the road crews plowing through the deep layers of snow. Alexis is amazed at how much snow actually fell overnight. She guesstimated that there had to be at least 3 feet out there. She walks back over to the bed and intuitively checks the phone line. Still no dial tone.

“Dammit!” She curses under her breath. “I need to check in on Kristina. I need to let Ric know I’m all right. He’s probably worried sick.”

Alexis makes her way to the bathroom and turns on the shower. As the steam begins to fill the room, she stands at the sink and looks into the mirror. She notices the obvious glow she has. She hasn’t had a glow like that in a long time. Not since the morning after she and Sonny first made love and created Kristina. Remembering that night used to hurt. As the memories blend into the night before and new feelings seep in and mix with the old, Alexis can’t help but grin wide. Her dimples appear deeply as images of Sonny holding her and loving her pop into her mind and she hears him talking to her in Spanish as he loved her with everything he had. And as suddenly as those images appeared, so did the images of what was to come when she explained to Ric that they needed to get an annulment. And all of the warm feelings were replaced with guilt and sadness.

‘I don’t want to hurt him, but I don’t love him.’ She thinks to herself and solemnly steps into the shower. She tries hard to put the negative feelings out of her mind, but the more she tries she can’t. Once again, sleeping with Sonny has complicated her life. As she lathered up, she weighed her options. Was putting all reason aside and being with Sonny worth ruining what could possibly be the best thing to ever happen to Alexis? Was Ric the best thing for Alexis?

In spite of his obviously desperate actions when he was previously married to Elizabeth Webber, Ric had proven to be a really good catch. He was handsome, intelligent, and he’d been so supportive of her during Kristina’s sickness. He was more than willing to help keep Kristina safe from Sonny’s world, including continuing to keep the secret of her paternity when he found out about it. Most importantly, he admitted to deeply caring for Alexis. Caring enough to want to marry her not just for the sake of Kristina’s well being but also because he had fallen in love with Alexis. Alexis was happy when Ric wanted to marry her. In spite of her neurotic behaviors, and his superiority complex, they made a good team; professionally and socially. With all of these qualities stacking up in his favor, why would Alexis not be happy and content with Ric? The answer is very simple: Ric was not Sonny. And to add insult to injury, Ric despises Sonny to the point of wanting to put him away for life. Alexis thought she wanted that too. She was wrong.

As much as Ric would love for it to happen, Sonny will never be out of the picture. For one, he’s Kristina’s father. And now the he knows he’s her father he plans to be actively a part of her life. Therefore, he will be an active part of Alexis and Ric’s life. Alexis knows this and had come to grips with this the day before. But it wasn’t until she was in his home, in his face, arguing with him, and hearing the hurt and anguish in his voice when she realized that not only did Sonny have a strong hold on her heart, but she still had a strong hold on his as well.

She rinses off and then just stands under the water, letting it rain on her. This hold Sonny has over her runs so deep that it overwhelms her. She again tries to reason with her conscience. Sonny is a professional criminal with a short fuse and an eye for the ladies. He’s impatient, hates being told no, and loves to have his way. His moods can change with the wind and Alexis has seen both sides. One minute Sonny can be cold, calculating, and downright dangerous. And then, like a warm front passing through, his mood changes and he’s gentle, loving and affectionate. Just the flash of his dimples makes her melt and lose all sense of standards and values. She knows being with someone like Sonny is so against what she had years ago decided was the best man for her. And according to those standards, Ric was it. Yet, when she’s with Sonny, Alexis knows that she can have anything she wants. This includes the time when she was just his attorney. She knows that even when they argue, Sonny has much respect for her. More respect than he’s ever displayed for any woman including Carly.

Alexis’ thoughts are interrupted by the feathery light kiss on the back of her shoulder blade. She smiles as the kiss travels up to the side of her neck and is accompanied by a gentle caress on her arms. She leans back into Sonny and allows him to embrace her then turns to face him and instantly connects her mouth to his, entwining tongues and causing more heat to rise than any steam could do.

After what seemed like forever, Alexis slowly broke the kiss. “Mmm. Good morning to you too, Mr. Corinthos.”

Again moving his kisses down to her gorgeously slender neck, Sonny smells her clean skin. “You smell nice and fresh.” He nibbles her collar bone. “Shame, you’re gonna have to take another shower.”

CHAPTER 8

She would be in worse shape had she not done it. Why else would Alexis hit her brakes so hard in this weather? It was several minutes inter her neurotic ramble when she realized that she was injured. The dull pain in her wrist told her so. Slowly, she got out of the car and examined the damage. The guardrail clearly won this match because the front end of her car was crunched in pretty good. It was crunched up enough that the tire would probably not be able to turn without hitting the hull, therefore rendering her car immobile.

“Shit! Shit! Shit!!!” she yelled out a she whipped out her cell phone and dialed 911.

“Hey! Are you all right?” The driver of a UPS truck asked startling her.

Turning abruptly, Alexis got lightheaded and the man grabbed her by the arm to steady her and she instantly winced from the pain then fainted. When she awakened, she found herself staring up into a penlight held by a rather handsome paramedic. She attempted to sit up but was quickly pushed back down on the stretcher.

“Wha, what’s going on? Why am I in an ambulance?” She asked with a look of confusion.

“You had an accident, ma’am,” the paramedic responded as he checked her vitals and her IV.

“I know that. But I’m not hurt that bad. It’s just a sprained wrist.”

“You also fainted, ma’am. If it wasn’t for that UPS driver back there, Lord knows how long you would have been lying out there in the cold.”

Alexis’ mind searched back to the scene and she remembered being lightheaded and the truck driver attempting to steady her. But she couldn’t remember anything after that.

“I fainted from the pain in my wrist. Other than that I’m all right.” She tried to sit up again and was again pushed back onto the stretcher.

“How bout we let the doctor be the judge of that? We’re about five minutes from General Hospital. So just sit back, relax, and enjoy the ride. OK, Miss?”

Alexis did as she was told all the while cursing inside her mind. She should have been paying more attention and she would have seen that deer over by the edge of the road. But she was too busy replaying her last minutes at Sonny’s house. She was heading downstairs when she overheard Sonny and Max talking. Her stomach turned upside down when she heard him say that he’d see Ric dead first if he continued to make things difficult. Alexis quietly tipped out of the house as she heard Sonny clearly say that Max was to let Ric know that he would curse the day he ever set foot in Port Charles if he continued to act out of line where it concerned his daughter.

Maybe that was it. It had to be. There had to be some kind of curse on her for things like this to keep happening to her. Why else would she continue to put herself in these kind of situations? Going to Sonny’s last night was a bad mistake. Last night should have never happened. She should have stayed her ass right there at the hospital with Kristina. Her mind began having a conversation with itself.

I told you messing with fire would burn us.

But it burned so good.

And look at us now. See what happens when we sin?

Yeah, sure. But it felt good. It felt so right.

He’s a mobster?

He’s a good man though.

He’s a criminal.

Alleged criminal.

He’s still got Carly in the background.

They’re divorced?

So what. You remember what happened before. It’s what got us in this situation to begin with.

True. But only because I listened to you. We should have been open and honest from the jump.

Maybe so. But the damage is done, and we’re married to Ric now. He’s stable. He’s safe.

Is he? Or is he just a smokescreen? Or worse… is he a substitute or revenge?

Hmm...

Yeah, and what about all the things we hashed out and cleared up with Sonny? What about all the things we said after that? What about the things we did with him? Was it all a lie? It sure didn’t feel like one. It couldn’t have been just about the sex. Could it?

As much as she wanted to say yes, Alexis couldn’t. Both her heart and mind knew better. She and Sonny have never been just about sex. Long before their bodies ever connected, their hearts and minds had been bonded. But while the truth was staring her in the face, Alexis also knew that the truth came with many consequences. And considering all that those consequences entailed, she wasn’t sure she was strong enough anymore to handle them. And on top of it all, deep down inside, she really did care about Ric and didn’t want to hurt him. Her conflicted heart ached for resolution.

As the ambulance rolled up an incline, Alexis closed her eyes hoping to black out everything she thought about if only for a moment. Instead she saw images of her and Sonny. The first image was a long ago memory of the two of them leaned back on the couch in her living room in the penthouse laughing and sharing a bowl of popcorn. The next one was of the two of them in Kristina’s room looking down on their daughter in relief as she slept peacefully; finally out of the woods. Then there were the images of her in Sonny’s arms moving fluidly while he whispered his love to her in Spanish as they tenderly made love.

Unlike earlier, no image of Ric appeared and Alexis consciously tensed up at the thought. She didn’t want to hurt him. But she didn’t want to keep hurting herself either. And choosing to stay with Ric, when her heart and body belonged to Sonny was doing just that. As the ambulance came to a stop, she began to shiver and again things fade to black.
