Conspiracy

Its been a while since I've tried writing so I don't know how good this is. We'll see...LOL. If it turns out ok, I'll continue

She was led to the visitors' table from her cell in handcuffs to find her attorney sitting there waiting for her. Ric Lansing stood up as his ex-wife & client Alexis Davis was led to the table to join him.

"Is it possible for you to remove the handcuffs? I can assure you that I'm quite safe with Ms. Davis", Ric said to the guard.

The guard looked at the former DA. He didn't believe she was guilty anyway. He approached her & removed her handcuffs before stepping back to allow them to talk.

"Thank you", Alexis said as she sat down across from Ric.

"How are you holding up?", Ric asked her & paused before a short, soft laugh. "I know, stupid question but I'm worried about you whether you believe it or not"

Alexis smiled at him. "I do believe you, and thank you for asking me. I suppose I'm holding up as well as possible. They have me isolated for obvious reasons, of course."

"Thank goodness for that", Ric told her. "I also wanted to let you know that we drew Judge Bradford"

Alexis thought about it for a moment. They both knew Judge Bradford to be tough yet relatively fair. "Well...I think we've both pissed him off before but he's generally not been known to hold grudges. He'll be fair", she observed. "How are the girls?"

"They're good. They miss you like crazy but they're good. I haven't let them see news about you, I don't want to upset them. I'm doing my best to keep them happy & occupied. As a matter of fact...", Ric said & paused. He took a deep breath & rolled his eyes. "...I've even let Jerry come by the house & spend time with them."

Alexis smiled at him. She knew how much Jerry adored her girls & they loved him, too. "Thank you. I appreciate that. I know it had to be hard for you but it made things easier & a bit better for the girls"

"I'm trusting your judgment here, Alexis. I don't trust him any further than I can throw him but you tell me he's changed a bit so I'll take your word until he proves me wrong. I have to admit, when I was watching them from the next room, he seemed to be good with them & seems to care for them"

"He is & he does. He would never hurt them & he would protect them with all he has like they were his own, like you would. I promise you that.", she assured him.

"And their mother?", Ric asked her.

"Yes, and me too", she said with a soft laugh.

"Well....we have to be in court in an hour. I should let you get dressed & I have to prep for the hearing. I'll see you there, ok?", he said as he stood up.

Alexis stood up and the guard approached her. As he re-cuffed her wrists, Ric turned & looked back at her before he left the room.

"Alexis?", he said.

"Yes, Ric", she asked as the guard took her arm to lead her away.

"You didn't do this & I know it. You're innocent. I'm going to get you off & we're going to beat this", he promised her.

"I know. You're the best attorney out there...well, now that I'm not out there anyway.", she teased a little with a soft laugh. "I believe in you & I believe you can win this", she said.

Ric gave her a supportive smile and the two then parted ways.

An hour later, Alexis was led into the courtroom. The first things she noticed was the press as photographers took photos of her entering the courtroom...this was a major case thanks to her being DA at the time she supposedly committed the crime she was being charged with. She then noticed the new District Attorney, Diane Miller, in the chair Alexis had once occupied when she was doing the same job. She was led over to the table where Ric sat making some notes for the case. She saw Jerry, Nikolas & Sam sitting in seats behind him. The three of them stood up as the guard uncuffed her for the hearing. She hugged both Sam & Nikolas then had a lingering hug for Jerry. The four of them all sat down as Jerry, Sam & Nikolas leaned forward to speak to Alexis privately.

"I've been doing some investigating on my own since the incompetants at the PCPD have decided that you did this & there is no chance of error", Jerry started & then smirked a little. "You don't actually think I intend to leave you in here, do you darling? Anyhow, I phoned a few of my contacts and we may have a lead or two to pursue."

"Thank god. Anything you can tell me about?", Alexis said softly.

"No, not yet. I want to solidify things before I tell you anything. While they are leads, they are still unconfirmed and I daresay unstable leads", Jerry told her as he put his hand on hers. "Not to worry though, love, I'll prove your innocence, clear your name & have you out of here as soon as I can, I promise. I just need for you to hold on a bit longer", he promised as he squeezed her hand a bit.

The bailiff came in & announced the judge's arrival. Everyone in the courtroom stood until the judge was seated & told everyone they could sit. Everyone sat with the exception of Ric, Alexis & Diane. Judge Bradford looked at his docket.

"We are here in the matter of the State of New York vs Alexis Davis on the charge of the first degree murder of Sonny Corinthos. Mr. Lansing, how does your client plead?", the judge asked.

"My client pleads not guilty, your honor", Ric told him, answering on behalf of Alexis. They both then sat down and waited for her bail hearing to begin.

I loved the writing. The tought of Sonny being dead make me want to crying
