By The GourmezI’m totally in love with Dante since we found out that he is an undercover cop, as many of us were hoping. Of course, now the fear that he’s going to turn soft on Sonny once he finds out about his parentage has set in. Please, please let this storyline result in Dante turning in his father with only a moderate amount of guilt. I’m fine with him connecting with his half-siblings and am sure he’ll be excited when he learns they are family, but I want him to show no remorse towards his criminal father. It would buy him my lifelong loyalty!
So Jax now knows about Dominic’s true identity and I’m glad, because Olivia needed someone to tell her, “You better work on your poker face if you’re planning on keeping that a secret.” Her secret-hiding face has not gotten any better since I last mentioned it!
"You think Dante--oops, I mean, Dominic--that Dominic kid is my kid?"
Jason and Sam’s re-igniting relationship has had a very cozy, familiar feel that I’m enjoying. Of course, managing to get a boink in between healing from gun shots and searching for runaway kids was awkward timing, but it was still hot. I found the demise of the car radio quite entertaining but I must say, having Sam and Jason pull out guns on the obnoxious vacationers because they had a disagreement with Michael, not to mention a missing watch, was definitely overkill. This was not a life-threatening situation; it was a customer service dispute.
Everyone seems to have forgotten that Sonny and Claudia did not get married because Claudia was with child. In fact, she didn’t become pregnant until well after their unholy union. No, Sonny married Claudia in order to cement his control of the Zacchara organization. So why is everyone acting surprised that they are staying married after the miscarriage, including the pitiful pair themselves? Did I miss a rewrite or does Sonny just not care about trying to control the Zacchara power anymore? That doesn’t seem very Sonny-like.
I am intrigued by Nik’s and Liz’s attraction. Two lifelong friends discover that they might want something more…that’s the stuff of romance novels and, well, soap operas. Not to mention that acting on it will inevitably hurt Lucky, the brother and sometimes ex-husband, which should make for good story as long as his more prickly behaviors don’t come out. But I must say, I was thrown that Nik slept with Rebecca again. Is he planning on toying with her? If so, I can manage to continue watching them in scenes together as long as The Prince comes out to play.
It’s strange, though, how the one thing the writers choose to be consistent about is negative character traits. We are supposed to forget that Sonny and Claudia married for power, not a baby, but Alexis is always overstressed and overanxious. Jax is always overprotective of his gestating children. Sonny is always, well, is there anything about Sonny that isn’t negative except for the occasional flash of dimple? I say this only because I’m sick of seeing Jax bribe Carly to eat healthy and I feel an impending doom as Lucky’s jealous anger will likely return when he finds out about Nik and Liz. I love that Jax and Carly have a stable, happy relationship now and I just plain love Lucky, so I wish that those negative character traits would disappear as easily as Matt Hunter’s fake drug storyline.
Gratuitous Picture of Lucky
Speaking of Dr. Hunter, the elusive Bigfoot of Port Charles, we had a confirmed sighting of him this week!
Aw, Matt scoffs just like his older brother.
He still exists. I just wanted to point that out.
Speaking of pointing things out, why on earth did Jason not point out to Michael that he’s not an adult and thusly, does not have a choice in how he wants to live his life? Running away was not okay; neither is starting a new life with no family ties. Michael is a teenager that is dealing with effects from a year-long coma; he does not get to decide what is best for himself at this time. In a year, sure, but for now, he needs firm boundaries, not a free hand.
Maxie needs to be straight with Spinelli and make it clear that chastity is NOT in their pre-wedding future. She’s as sick of this courtly love spiel as we are and needs to say it. Especially if this is what happens when she’s not getting laid:
What thing wicked this way combed?!?!
Release your passions with honesty, girl, not a pair of scissors!
Even though they rip off one of my favorite horror movie lines, “Something wicked this way comes,” the promos for the carnival look fantastic! I’ve been paying less attention to spoilers lately and I must say, I like it better that way. I’ll send you off with a riff on a fair food classic this week—fried dough topped with homemade vanilla bean ice cream and drizzled with farm-fresh orange blossom honey. Here’s hoping this grand event will be as much of a treat as that!
